  • They noticed that the sun is the strongest Yang Force and it energizes the whole planet. The Sun’s rays go to earth and penetrate into the Core of the Earth and the Earth responds with a geomagnetic and electromagnetic response. The crossing of the Earth and Sun (Cosmic energy/Earth Energy) effects people, houses and animals. So when we build a home this energy or Qi becomes trapped inside the building the moment the walls and roof are sealed. It is this energy that becomes the buildings DNA. We use that energy along with Peoples Qi (energy) and see how it relates to the building.


  • This relationship between Sun and Earth is why we use the Solar calendar in Feng Shui. The energies change every February 4th. Where as Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar and changes every year. We are currently in the Wood Snake year.

Who Started Feng Shui?

No Clear history of when it started. But we know the following:

  • Scientific Feng Shui derives from the traditional Feng Shui Techniques formulated and applied at Kings and Emperors Courts since the Xia Dynasty approximately around 2000 BC and are acknowledge in Asia as “Authentic”.
  • Created after a long term astronomical and geological observations in which they discovered Qi, or the life force energy that moves with Wind and stops at Water.
  • Created in the Zhou Dynasty by King Wen
  • Master Yang Yun Song-Imperial astronomer and meteorologist during the late Tang Dynasty around 907A.D.
  • It was then passed on to Zheng Wen Shan
  • Our Feng Shui Lineage is called Yang Zheng Lineage
  • Developed as a pragmatic application because the Ancient Chinese were practical people. It was translated from ancient Chinese to Chinese to English. Lots of wrong information out there because its not regulated by anyone. 

Schools of Feng Shui

How many are there?

  • Invisible Qi-Compass School-Date of birth of the occupants and the buildings orientation and time of construction
  • Visible Qi-Form School-Exterior Surroundings or buildings design ie: house at the end of a t-shaped street which gets lots of strong Qi, two doors aligned or stairs in front of the entrance.
  • Ba Zhai Theory or 8 Mansion School-developed during the Ming Dynasty around 1400BC states that each of us have a different energy (East/West Theory)
  • Xuan Kong School-Spatial orientation, time and people
  • Stem Branches-also spatial orientation, time and people
